Lei Workshops & Tours
Making lei begins by gathering flowers, ferns, seeds and other elements from nature depending on the purpose for the lei. Many lei are made to mahalo or honor a loved one. We also make lei with medicinal purposes, using special herbs and plant properties that promote relaxation, relieve congestion and other ailments. We teach haku or wili-style lei-making and for the poʻo (head) or kupeʻe (wrist or ankle). [These are not flower crowns made with floral tape and wire]. Sitting together and weaving these elements to make the lei is a special way to spend time with close friends and to put energy into the celebration of a life event.
Details: Tours and workshops can be held for participants of 10 people or more and we ask for a $50 donation per person to cover the cost of hosting the workshop, and the cost and time of growing and gathering the lei material and for hosting the workshop. We customize the workshops based on how many people; your interest in particular flowers, colors, or types of lei. [We no longer host events at locations off site from our Waihuena Farm or North Shore beaches. Exceptions can be made for events over 20 participants. In most cases we just do lei workshops on the North Shore and most often at your home or outdoor location for your event. If you don't have a location, we can setup our beach cabana at a variety of beaches on the North Shore (additional $100 for setup and breakdown). If interested in planning a workshop, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org for more details and availability. You can also email us to order a custom orders.
